Biography
Bernard
Jaquet was interested in poker-work since his childhood. He first
was initiated to this art by manual work in school in France (Evian
les Bains) and took pleasure to work with wood.
By moving to Quebec in 1995, he decided to come back to
his first love : wood and poker-work. It’s while making pictures
that he decided to add colors. To do so, he studied with the artist
Diane Bernard in St-Lambert, during 3 years. He realized that he
also have to bring a more complete finish to his works. He register
to a course in furniture outsiding and finish a D.E.P. (professional
studies diploma) in 2000-2001 in Montreal.
He set up his own poker-work, wood painting studio in
Otterburn Park and begin his productions. He became a skilled
tradesman in 1999 and showed his works in expositions and exhibits.
In his new decorative objects, boxes and small furniture
collection, he integrated metals, leather, cork and stained glass,
while belonging in the stained poker-work field.
Now, he also teaches poker-word and continued to evolve
and innovate.
